Yeast Infection Definition


Yeast infection, also known as candidiasis or moniliasis or thrust, is a vaginal infection caused by any species of the fungus of the Candida.


Yeast infection is characterized by uncomfortable itching, burning, or redness of the vaginal area. Yeast organisms are always present in all people, but are usually prevented from multiplication by naturally occurring microorganisms.
