How to Treat Belching Naturally
To release excessive air from the stomach, the body moves it up the esophagus, resulting in a belch. Belching is not an illness or disease, but can cause discomfort, irritation and embarrassment. The good news is that belching is treatable through natural methods.

Step 1
Reduce the air that you swallow; it's the most common way to cut down on belching. Cut back on chewing gum, smoking and drinking through straws, as these are all activities that will cause you to swallow lots of air. Also, pay attention to your stress and energy levels. When stressed you tend to swallow more air as you breathe and when tired, you yawn, which causes you to swallow air as well.

Step 2
Avoid gassy foods. Foods that are rich in fiber tend to increase gas. Some main offenders include: broccoli, cabbage and beans. Foods that tend to cause sensitivity in many people's digestives systems, such as dairy products and wheat should also be avoided.

Step 3
Avoid carbonated drinks. It seems simple, but if you drink beverages that contain air, the air will end up in your stomach and result in belching. So stop consuming beverages such as pop and beer.

Step 4
Take natural, over the counter treatments. They cannot cure belching, but might reduce the odor or decrease the gas from coming out the other end. Activated charcoal tablets can help to cut down on gas production and absorb odor.

Step 5
Know your allergies. Many people are lactose intolerant and get gas from consuming dairy products. If you're allergic to those foods, eat lactose-free products.
