A documentation of helpful herbal remedies
In a large cooking pot mix about 3 tablespoons of thyme, a teaspoon of salt, and a half teaspoon of ground ginger. Fill with water 3/4 of the way and bring to a boil.

One boiling, remove from heat and set on a trivet on a table. Get a thin cloth like an old sheet or something with poor absorption qualities ( a towel if nothing else)

Put your head over the water vapor coming from the pot. Put the cloth over your head so it drapes over the sides of the pot also.

Breathe in slowly with your nose and release your breath from the mouth.

Take about 6 deep breathes, and then sit up straight, put your hands above your head and interlock your fingers so your palms are facing up. Look up at your hands and take 2 deep breaths (in through your nose out through your mouth)

Go get a washcloth, dip it in the hot water and making sure it's not too hot for comfort press it to your face just below the eyes. Keep blotting the cloth until it loses its heat.

Repeat the vapor breathes with the cloth over your head then return the pot to the stove and boil so the steam fills the air. You may want to get a small fan to push the steam out into the room a little more.

Do as often as you wish. You may even drink some of the water and thyme mixture with a spoonful of honey added to ease throat discomfort.
