How to prevent Shin Splints?

Avoid running on hard or uneven surfaces

• Warm up sufficiently before exercise or sport

• Cool down sufficiently following exercise or sport

• Keep shins warm during exercise

• Wear correctly fitted shoes during physical activity

• Stretch calf and shin muscles before and after exercise

• Try to correct running style if inadequate

• Continue to train in the off-season to keep the lower leg strong and conditioned.
