Foods to Avoid Eating with a Sore Throat
Having a sore throat is a very uncomfortable experience, whether you have a little cold or, in the more painful form, strep throat. Unfortunately, there are certain foods which can really aggravate a sore throat, even if you only eat them just once. Here are some of the different foods that you will want to be sure to avoid eating with a sore throat.

Sweet Foods

When you have a sore throat, it is always a good idea to avoid foods which are very sweet. Although you can sometimes get away with semi-sweet foods, really sweet foods definitely will irritate you. Pixie stick candy, double chocolate cake and Pop-Tarts are just a few of the many different sweet foods that you should be sure to avoid when you have a sore throat.

Sour Foods

Although sweet foods can irritate a sore throat, sour foods can actually be just as bad, if not worse. Whether it is candy or a fruit, you may want to avoid it if it's sour. Some of the sour foods that you will definitely want to avoid when you have a sore throat include Warhead candy, dill pickles and cranberry juice. Even if a food only seems slightly sour, you should probably avoid it when you have a sore throat.

Spicy Foods

There are some people who are not affected by spicy foods when they have a sore throat and actually claim that it can make them feel better. However, there are other people who cannot eat spicy foods at all when they have a sore throat. Some of the different spicy foods that you may want to avoid when you have a sore throat include salsa and pepper.

Crunchy Foods

Imagine having a sore throat and having something crunchy really irritate it even more. This is not something that anyone wants to experience, whether the throat is only slightly sore or is incredibly sore. You would not want to get something crunchy or sharp stuck inside your throat, ultimately causing more irritation. A few of the different crunchy foods that you will definitely want to avoid when you have a sore throat include popcorn, chips and hard taco shells.
