DIET HINTS

Always follow the dietary advice provided by your Doctor.

- People with Post-nasal Drip should try to drink plenty of water, as this can thin out the mucus and reduce blockage of the sinuses.

- Caffeine promotes water loss from the body via the urine, so should generally be avoided by people with Postnasal Drip.

- A healthy, well-balanced diet is recommended

VITAMINS/MINERALS/HERBS
Always consult your Doctor before taking any vitamins, minerals or herbs for advice on any possible side effects or drug interactions.

- Herbs particularly useful for excessive mucus production include garlic, golden seal, eyebright, horseradish, golden rod, fenugreek and liquorice. Garlic and golden seal also have some antimicrobial activity, while liquorice is beneficial for its anti-inflammatory effect. Echinacea may assist in boosting immune function if viral or bacterial infection is part of the problem.

- Vitamin A is important for normal immune function in the mucous membranes and vitamin C and zinc may be beneficial in boosting immune function if dietary intake is inadequate.
